Our 3rd Anniversary Celebration!
Dear Friends, Each year since we opened on July 23, 2008, we have grown and learned from you. This year has been a unique community-knitting-together with the efforts poured into the MINI yarn bombing and events like the Bake Sale for Japan. From classes to parties, this Blazing Needles concept would not be nearly as fun or successful without your creativity, passion, and commitment to community. To thank you and celebrate our third anniversary, we have a few fun things planned... Anniversary Sale: Monday, July 18 through Saturday, July 23 we will be offering an in-store sale on Noro, Debbie Bliss, Sublime, and many other items. Anniversary Celebration: On Saturday, July 23, Cynthia and the Blazing Needles Crew will buy you dinner from 6pm-9pm from Beach Shack Burritos and dessert from 7pm-9pm by So Cupcake. Bring your beverage of choice to share in the celebration. Anniversary Pick your Prize: All…

A Weekend to Remember
Who knew that this yarn bombing craziness would be so much fun, attract so much attention, and put smiles on all people who came in contact with it? Thanks to all the knitters who contributed to the project--time, yarn, vision, energy, ideas, the mannequin (from Salt Lake Acting Company), photography, and car! It wouldn't have happened or been such a great success without everyone's contributions and good energy. We also are happy to have participated with knitters across Salt Lake City from various knitting shops to make this Random Act of Arts project so impactful. Everyone who contributed--and especially Lisa Sewell, Sheryl Gillilan, and Ellen Christensen for spearheading the project--deserve great kudos and thanks. We had to un-bomb the MINI today which we did with some sadness, but it made a short joy ride through downtown Salt Lake City before being retired. On the way, KUTV's Ron Bird picked up…

You Look Fabulous, Darling!
How much fun did we have the last couple days pulling this yarn bombing project together? Too much for words. Around 5:30pm on Tuesday, we led a little procession through the streets of Salt Lake City from the shop to the grounds of the City & County Building. We got honks, friendly waves (and maybe one not-so-friendly gesture), and shout outs on our course. Thanks to Tom Kelly for documenting our ride and installment and finished product. The Salt Lake Tribune also gave us a shout-out today. We hope everyone will head down to the Utah Arts Festival to check it out, Thursday, June 23, through Sunday, June 26 (noon to 11pm). There will be a knit-in going on nearby as well so bring your knitting and enjoy the ambiance of the Festival. The reaction from the public for all of the knitting efforts has been fantastic. We heard that…

Rogue Knitting Update
On Monday, several Blazing Needles knitters came together to assemble what has really been a fun community effort. Making use of knitted squares and other pieces as well as their unique creativity, our little crew (led by Carol) began to piece together the various elements, including the belle of the ball, Evita (other names are still in negotiation). If any of you are around today (Tuesday), June 21, and want to join in the fun, please come down to the shop and participate. We will be moving the MINI from the shop to the City & County grounds between 5pm and 5:30pm. We will need people on both ends to help finish things off tonight for the Utah Arts Festival that begins on Thursday, June 23. And you won't want to miss the processional from the shop to downtown. It's sure to be a head-turner as our colorful knitted up…
