Blazing Needles is honored to host world renown knitwear designer Andrea Mowry for a full weekend of workshops from July 7th through July 9th, 2017. Andrea will be bringing her complete trunk show for us to view and during her workshops she will be sharing her passion for design and color, and those special techniques that will elevate your knitting to an art form. A portion of all proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House SLC, a charity of Andrea's choosing.

Friday, July 7th from 4 pm - 6 pm. Start your weekend off right with a festive "meet and greet" with Andrea. She will present a trunk show of her favorite pieces and share her design process with us. There will also be an exclusive new yarn reveal during this event. The store will close at 3:30 pm for this exclusive event, however attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy extended shopping hours until 7pm. Hors d'oeuvres included.
Saturday, July 8th from 10 am - 2 pm. Andrea will guide you through the first two sections, garter lovin’ and simple lace play. She will help you think through the remaining sections of your shawl. We will provide the colored pencils to help plan your project and, of course, there will be light refreshments. If time permits, Andrea will help you find the perfect way to fit your favorite skein in your fade!
Skill Level: For knitters of all levels.
Supplies: Bring a skein of your favorite fingering weight yarn and a 32” US 4 needle.
Saturday, July 8th from 3 pm - 7 pm. Learn how to knit super squishy brioche and open up a whole new world of texture and color play with this addictive technique. This class will focus on learning brioche knit and brioche purl stitches. Towards the end of this workshop, Andrea will showcase some of her brioche designs which would be the perfect, next-step project. Light refreshments included.
Skill Level: Intermediate. The student needs to be comfortable with knit, purl, yarnovers, and slipping stitches.
Supplies: 2 colors of worsted weight yarn, size US 7 or 8 - 24” to 32” circular needle, and locking stitch markers. Highlighter tape might be handy.
Sunday, July 9th from 12 pm - 4 pm. Explore using color in new ways. We will play with color melting, two color brioche, marling, and mosaic knitting. Light refreshments included.
Skill Level: Intermediate, students should be very comfortable with knitting, as we will be jumping right into new techniques.
Supplies: An assortment of fingering weight or DK yarns. Appropriate size needles for knitting a swatch - circulars recommended. Size US 4 - 6 depending on yarn weight. Light refreshments included.
