This Saturday, June 10th, to celebrate World Wide Knit In Public day, we are hosting a huge party celebrating the art of knitting and love of fiber that is found worldwide. Sit in on a demonstration, bring a fiber newbie who wants to learn to knitor crochet, take in the joy of community while snacking on delicious food, or just bring your knitting and hang out for a while. We will fire up the grill and have drinks; sides, desserts, and additional drinks will be potluck style! As always, all are welcome.
All Day: Free beginning knitting, outdoor games and activities (sidewalk chalk, bubbles, hula hooping, temporary tattoos, etc...), socialization, etc.
11 am: Continental knitting demo
12 pm: German short rows demo
1 pm: Russian Join demo
2 pm: Free beginning crochet
4 pm: Icelandic Knitting and Customs demo
Throughout the event we will be collecting donations for the Salt Lake City branch of the International Refugee Committee. Items needed include: diapers size 3-5, diaper wipes, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, and dish soap. The IRC also just started a knitting group and would love donations of yarns (full or remnants), needles/hooks, and patterns. Follow the SLC branch on Facebook for more information.
