Julie Hoover Finishing Skills | Session Two

Join renowned knitwear designer, Julie Hoover, for the day as she helps you learn to master your finishing techniques! Possibly the most intimidating part of any sweater pattern is the finishing section. The focus of this class is to cover the techniques Julie uses to achieve exceptionally finished projects — essentials that will help you raise the bar on your finishing skills.

When: Sunday, November 3rd from 10AM- 3PM. We will break for a 1 hour lunch at 12 PM.

Required Skills:

         Must be very comfortable knitting and purling

    Taught Skills:

             Finishing Techniques and Mastery

        Homework: 

                 Please knit 4 identical 6X6" swatches in stockinette stitch

                 50 yards of swatched yarn in same color or contrasting color

        Materials: 

                Light worsted weight swatching yarn

                Fabric Clips

                Circular Needles in size needed for gauge

                US 0 & US 1 Circular Needles

                Blunt tapestry needle

                Small gauge crochet hook

        Bio
        Recognized for her minimal aesthetic and attention to fine detail, Julie designs knitwear that is simultaneously casual and elegant. Her signature style evolved over many years of work as a visual merchandiser, art director, and freelance designer. A lifelong passion for fiber led her to receive a BA in Clothing & Textiles;, then it took her nearly two more decades to discover—and focus entirely on—hand knitting. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Julie spends her time designing for her independent label as well as for other brands such as Purl Soho and Brooklyn Tweed.
